Hello Cubase.net !

Yesterday i had very bad luck when installing new drivers for yamaha n12 - my friend bought cubase 5 - so this update has become necessary.
Before he used Cubase AI4 and everything worked fine. So I uninstalled the old yamaha mlan drivers - checked the firmware status of n12 - which is 1.04.
And then I installed the tools for N 2.0 for WinXP 32 bit. Afterwards I installed the updated Firewire driver 1.07.
All updates were installed as expected - but - in the hardware manager - i only can see 2 entries - yamaha steinberg FW Driver - and a Second N-series entry - but no WDM drivers.

The Problem:

N-12 can not be found via the ASIO Control Panel of N12 - and therefore can not be found in Cubase - it says: Device can not be opened.

The strange thing:
I can communicate with N12 via firewire in the Sweet Spot Data manager and with the firmware updater programs.

I have no idea, how this can happen and what to do....

Many many thanks for your help - Poldi

Same problem here.

The firmware update 103 does not work. I tried it several times. The n12 does not reboot after the upgrade, just a beep occours. The mLan driver still works - nothing changed. The FW controll panel keeps empty.

Anyone an idea? Is there a possibility to unlock the n12?

I forgot to press the key combination at startup of the n12 device (prev, remote click on). Its all right now Very Happy

Have you both read the full update pdf as you are updating the firewire firmware and the n12 firmware which has not been done in previous updates. Once the n12 firmware isupdated then it should work ok

Read the instructions???

Why? We're blokes!

Seriously, very detailed procedures like that SHOULD have been put directly into the updater program
so that they come up on screen during the update process - and unless each step is taken, the software doesn't proceed.

As it is, you run the updater software and all looks fine & dandy - until you find that the damn thing doesn't work.

Not good, Yamaha/Steinberg.
