Strange problem...

I have a project with a really bad kick drum track.
So I installed KT Drum Trigger, to trigger the audio file to, let's say Groove Agent One.

These are the steps I took (over and over again):
1. On the kick drum audio track I insert KT Drum Trigger as plugin
2. I adjust the treshold in KT Drum Trigger so every kick is triggered.
3. I add a VST Instrument track, let's say Groove Agent One
4. I put 'KT Drum Trigger' as input in the VST instrument track, put it on channel 10 (like in KT Drum Trigger).

Unless this is the right way, the VST instrument track doesn't receive the triggers...

Is this an internal MIDI routing problem in Cubase 5?

I have been searching for hours now...the only thing I found out is:
People with Cubase 5 32-bit don't have any problem making this work...

Is this a 64 bit issue or something else?
Can anyone help me please?

Simon.

Not sure how Kt Trigger works as I use AP Trigga which works really well but to use it I have to load an audio sample into AP trigga and not use groove agent, Just a thought.

To clarify on behalf of the OP, KTDrumTrigger is a plugin that receives audio (from a drum track) and outputs MIDI (to a sampler) for drum substitution. Cubase likes things in nice neat little boxes, so getting an audio-in/MIDI-out routing for a plugin might be tricky, and I'm not sure how it would be done.

Two questions for the OP that might help in the search for a solution: 1.) will KTDT take a sidechain input? and 2.) what kind of plugin (audio, MIDI, instrument) does Cubase categorize KTDT as (again with the nice neat boxes...)?

Can definitely vouch for it under 32Bit as you say, have you tried it in 32Bit yet just to see if it is cubase or there's just something you haven't done yet? I've used it loads of times for replacing and reinforcing live kicks and even created drum patterns by banging an assortment of objects that all produce percussive but very different sounds and then used it to trigger something like GAO.... great little plugin and it's FREEEEEE Very Happy

Hi,
I recently saw the same thing: the MIDI events just don't come through.
I asked on the VST development mailing list, and apparently this is a problem of Cubse:
if you are running the 64-bit version on a 64-bit machine, and you are using a 32-bit plugin, the pluing is hosted in some kind of "bridge" module form Steinberg, and that bridge doesn't support MIDI sending plugins... I was quite amazed myself by this behavior...
You can run the 32-bit version on a 64-bit machine as well, and then it should work, I think.
Just thought I'd jump in and clarify.
Koen
