|

Hello -
I recently tried to get this issue resolved by Toon Track admins and they figured I had the setup correct but I'm still having no luck.
First I'll give the system setup specs I'm running:
Running Windows XP OS
CuBase Studio 5 32-bit
EzDrummer 32-bit w/ version 1.2.1
The issue - just trying to get my keyboard (older synth - ALESIS Quadra synth) to play/trigger ezdrummer when I strike a key. That's it!
Background
I have my Quadra synth going MIDI (channel 1) out to my Midi 2x2 sport (IN-A) and from my sport I have it going USB to my computer. I am running Cubase Studio 5 on it and in there I bring up Ezdrummer. I know MIDI info is being sent because I see my sport respond with a green light when I hit my keys on the board and in turn I see the the transport panel in Cubase reflect a solid signal in the MIDI indicator column. I am not hearing anything on the kit sound off though. I noticed by default ALL MIDI Inputs come up and my VST instrument is Ezdrummer. I can hear the kit sound off when I strike any of the toms, cymbals, etc, with the mouse clicks but that is the only way I hear it.
'MIDI Thru Active' is activated (checked) on the MIDI page and the MIDI sport appears as a selectable destination.
I have actually toggled it to be IN-A MidiSport 2x2 in this area and still no success.
Underneath that is the Ezdrummer output routing.
I am having this issue with all VST instruments so it is not just EZdrummer
Any help you can give as far as routing/setting options that I may need to try would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS! |

Have you engaged the monitor switch? You will only hear the VST instruments if the monitor switch (that small round knob with a loudspeaker symbol) is activated while you are playing. |

Hi,
Notice you have ez drummer. Problem not directly related to your post, but hope you can help?
Just purchased EZ Drummer through toontrack. First I tried to save direct in program files/steinberg/vst/cubase 5/vst plug ins and it came up - permission required from administrator? - so i saved to a non steinberg folder - so that was ok
I then managed to cut and paste the whole file to the vstplugins folder and labelled toontrack. I then went devices in cubase 5/plug in information/vst x2 plug in paths/add toontrack(all files).
Gone into cubase - add track/vst instrument/toontrack/ - press edit and ez drummer menu appears but says 'EZ Drummer cannot find the sound files!' - 'Reinstall EZ Drummer or the path to the sounds is not set'
I understand that vst2 files are dll or extension files but not sure other files should be allocated elsewhere such as midi, dpm, rsa,ds store, windows installer or wav files.
I'm obviously missing something here?
Some help would be great as I've just forked out with Toontrack but can't get started.........

Hello;
Have you found a solution to this issue yet? As I have the same issue unfortunately been working with this and other MIDI issues in Cubase 5 the past two weeks. I have searched everywhere but have not been able to find any answers. I am unable to produce any sounds from any of my VST's via a keyboard through Cubase. Last night I sucessfully recorded from my midi keyboard and playback using my VST for the first time but to date, have not yet been able to trigger any VST sounds using my keyboard |
