|
|
I have Cubase 5 and just got the Alesis Multimix 16 firewire. I am running XP SP2 with 2GB RAM. I can set up all the inputs just fine and can even record
just fine with inputs 1-8. However, though I can hear what is coming into any of the stereo inputs, I can't seem to get any signal into Cubase, and when I record
stereo input(s), I don't hear anything on the resulting tracks.
Can anyone help?
Thanks! |

Have you set-up (added) the inputs in the VST connections?
Read the manual on how to set up inputs and outputs in the VST connections if not.

Yes, I set up all the VST connections just fine. When I play back a source in these stereo inputs, I hear them, but
there doesn't seem to be a signal coming into Cubase (I checked the mixer, and the meters don't even move), and
the recorded stereo input tracks are silent. |

Anyone else have any ideas on how to get my stereo tracks to work?
I have made some progress. First, I open up a new project and choose 8 mono tracks and 4 stereo tracks, and I assign each mono input to it's respective track in Cubase. Stereo track 1 in Cubase is mixer inputs 9/10, Stereo track 2 in Cubase is mixer inputs 11/12, Stereo track 3 in Cubase is mixer inputs 13/14, and Stereo track in Cubase is mixer inputs 15/16.
By assigning any one of the stereo tracks in the VST Connections section to Alesis Multimix MAIN_IN L (ex. channel 9) and Alesis Multimix MAIN_IN R (ex. channel 10), I am able to hear the incoming signal in Cubase, and I see the meter moving. Strangely, I can also hear audio from devices connected to the other stereo input tracks. If I assign say, Stereo In 1's Left to Alesis Multimix MAIN_IN L, and Stereo 1's Right to Alesis Multimix MAIN_IN R, I hear nothing coming into Cubase, nor does the meter move.
Is it me, or are the stereo input tracks all hardwired together, and can you just not record a separate stereo track for each stereo input pair? I really want to utilize all the inputs on my mixer (16) and be able to have a separate track for each one of them (well, 8 separate mono tracks, and 4 separate stereo tracks).
please help! The manual doesn't seem to help, and I have a good understanding of how to set up inputs, outputs, and buses. |
