Automation changes are delayed

Let's say I'm automating CC11, when I make a change and hit play, it takes .25 second or so before the change takes affect. Meaning that it will start out playing at the old volume and then change to where is should be. Playing a second time works as it should This means every time I make a change and hit play, I have to do it twice to hear the correct change. Very annoying and a hamper to workflow not to mention tough on the ear. If I change the value of the CC in the CC lane of the prv, there's no problem.

I'm using Studio 5.5.2 and my Mac Pro has all the latest updates. This has been a problem since before Snow Leopard and I haven't used Cubase much at all because of it. I like Cubase and would like to use it more often but I need to fix this problem.
