After upgrading AI 4 to 4.1.2. I got an unpleasant surprise. ASIO time overload light flashes and program freezes and crackles after every ~10 seconds during recording and playback. I don't even have to open a project - it still flashes and crackles ...
Everything was OK before that update and I haven't made any other changes in my PC's hard and software.

Any suggestions what should I do to fix this problem?

Just in case some additional information:
My PC has Intel Core Duo processor and 1 GB RAM
Cubase's ASIO buffer: 2048, audio priority: normal, disk preload: 2 sec
CPU practically remains zero

I am experiencing the exact same issue...ASIO time overload and constant poping and crackling. Using powerbook G4 2GB RAM, 1.67 processor, 10.4.11.

Any help with this issue would be GREATLY appreciated!

Did anyone find any resolution to this. I had to remove all of the EQ settings to get rid of this. I only have 6 tracks and a decent amount of resourses on this system. I am also getting the popping and clicking after about 5 minutes of play back. Is this maybe a buffer size issue?

Hello,

please increase the buffer settings of your soundcard. When the latency (buffersize) is set to low this can happen.

Gr,

Chris

Hi,

Only thing that helped me to solve this problem was new ASIO driver. Changing buffer size didn't affect anything.

What ASIO driver do you install?

What does the ASIO performance indidcate in Cubase? What determines in limitations and can that be increased somehow? Is it based on CPU, Memory, Disk Speed, Virtual Memeory???

Hi,

First, are you 100% sure that it is the same problem? You said that popping and clicking started after 5 minutes. I had this problem right away then starting Cubase.

ASIO - “Audio Stream Input/Output” standard used by many audio software applications.
Seemed to me that after upgrade to 4.1.2. ASIO DirectX Full Duplex Driver (comes with Cubase) didn't want to work anymore.

I have Cubase AI4 which came with Yamaha mixer. So I downloaded another ASIO driver from Yamaha's support page.
You may look for support section on Alesis homepage or try some third party driver like http://www.asio4all.com/
